@lerato_tfsa different thing. Dividend is cash the company pays you just for owning the share, your tax free account is just where you hold it tax-free.

Gold price has been lekker to HAR, but the thing that worries me is how much power costs eat into margin when stage 4 or 5 hits. Underground mining needs juice running 24/7, so Eskom's mess is basically a hidden cost nobody prices in yet.

visa's basically the plumbing under every card swipe you make, right. they don't lend you money or issue the card, they just take a tiny cut every time cash moves. stage 4 tonight so might as well think about boring stuff that keeps working even when eskom kills the lights.

MA basically runs the pipes that your credit card swipes travel through, then takes a tiny cut. Everyone's buying stuff online now, so more transactions means more fees for them, and that's showing up in their numbers.

the licensing model is clever because they get paid whether the chip ends up in your phone or a data center, but the real question is how many new devices actually need their designs versus just using older versions. latest results showed the royalty side didn't grow as fast as people wanted, so the market's a bit split on whether the ai boom helps them or not.

The machines CAT makes are getting older on every mine and construction site in the world, so yeah people have to replace them eventually. But replacement demand is way different from "business is booming" demand, and that's probably why the price keeps doing this bouncy thing.

XOM's refining business is what actually keeps the lights on here when Eskom collapses, so there's always demand. Problem is the oil price keeps bouncing around and nobody knows where it settles, which makes it hard to pick a good entry point at $168.50.
