@rawssy_links yeah mate, patience wearing thin but the rand helping here
@trpine_patient spot on about the rand, auto recovery is the real catalyst here
@trpine_patient spot on, export pricing is the real tailwind here. automotive will make or break it though
@easystreet_jse yeah man, frustrating hold
Rand at these levels is actually helping ACL's export competitiveness more than people realise, especially with flat steel margins under pressure globally. Local construction demand pickup is real but automotive is still the wildcard, that's where the volume upside sits. Seems to mirror the global steel malaise but the local story is different enough. Long-term view hasn't changed.
@bombay_coach construction ramping up where though, load-shedding still destroying volumes?
after reading the latest sens release, acl's exposure to automotive is gonna feel that demand squeeze hard if the local car industry keeps struggling. flat steel margins got crushed last quarter and ngl the rand weakness isn't helping input costs. long term the balance sheet is solid but i'm not convinced we've bottomed yet on volumes.
Steel demand still weak globally but ACL's got a local moat with construction ramping up again. R1.37 is decent value if you're holding longer term, automotive sector should pick up once things normalise. GLTA
Rand weakness helping margins more than load-shedding hurts volumes.
R1.33, down 3.5% today ouch
Pulled the latest results, steel demand still weak but balance sheet solid
Flat products demand still soft but long steel order book holding up decently.
