These terms govern your use of stocktalk.co.za and the StockTalk SA platform. Please read them carefully before creating an account.
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using stocktalk.co.za, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement and are legally capable of entering into binding agreements under South African law.
Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You may not share your account or create multiple accounts for the same person.
- You must provide accurate information during registration.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms without notice.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post content that is false, misleading, or intended to manipulate stock prices — market manipulation is illegal under the Financial Markets Act 19 of 2012.
- Impersonate any person or organisation.
- Post spam, unsolicited promotions, or referral schemes.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Attempt to access, scrape, or reverse-engineer the platform without written permission.
- Use the platform for any illegal purpose under South African law.
User-generated content
You own the content you post. By posting, you grant StockTalk SA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and distribute your content on the platform. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.
Financial disclaimer
StockTalk is a community discussion platform — not a financial advisory service.
Nothing on this platform constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Community sentiment, discussions, and price alerts are for informational purposes only. Always conduct your own research and consult a registered financial advisor before making investment decisions.
StockTalk SA is not a registered Financial Services Provider (FSP) under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS).
Premium subscriptions
- Premium is billed at R99/month or R890/year via Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — no refunds for partial periods.
- We reserve the right to change Premium pricing with 30 days’ notice.
- VAT may apply in accordance with South African tax law.
Intellectual property
All platform content, branding, the StockTalk Sentiment Index, and software are owned by StockTalk SA. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or commercialise any part of the platform without written permission.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, StockTalk SA is not liable for:
- Investment losses resulting from use of the platform.
- Inaccuracies in price data or sentiment indicators.
- Service interruptions or data loss.
- Unauthorised access to your account resulting from your own actions.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings — all your posts and data will be removed within 30 days.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a platform notice. Continued use of StockTalk after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
